Divaad Wilson confirms ACL tear in tweet

Kirby Smart has had great things to say about Miami freshman Divaad Wilson so far this spring. It had appeared that the 6’1, 195 pound Wilson was ticketed for significant playing time this fall. But ‘Dawg fans now may have to wait to see him in Sanford Stadium.

Wilson went down with what Coach Smart termed a "lower body injury" during his Saturday press conference. Wilson was a little more specific in a tweet which he later deleted.

"Tore my ACL" Wilson reported, "Comeback will be epic! God’s plan".Wilson appears to have later deleted the tweet.

If in fact the talented freshman has torn his ACL it’s a tough blow for a UGA secondary that’s long on talent but short on experience. Graduated senior Aaron Davis played a lot in the hybrid "star" position in 2017 and it appeared Wilson might even have the inside track on replacing him.

Junior Tyrique McGhee has also worked at star, but is smaller than ideal for the position. Sophomores Walter Grant and William Poole will also continue to work at the position, which could remain up for grabs into the fall.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
