Bulldog fans have known for a while now that Deandre Baker is the best defensive back in college football. Now he’s got the hardware to prove it.

Baker was named the Jim Thorpe Award winner tonight as the nation’s top defensive back over fellow finalists Greedy Williams of LSU and Julian Love of Notre Dame. Father Deandre as he is known on the Chapel Bell Curve podcast was a force during his senior season. Baker ties for the team lead with 2 interceptions, which isn’t terribly impressive. But he also had 10 pass breakups, a pretty impressive number given that teams tried desperately to avoid him all season.
Great job, Deandre. And...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
