Georgia fans have been very excited this season about the number of freshmen turning in quality performances for the #5 team in the country. Turns out they weren’t the only ones who noticed.
Georgia placed a league-leading five freshmen on the SEC’s All-Freshman team, voted on by league coaches. Or perhaps their GAs who aren’t out recruiting right now. Either way, it’s great news.
Justin Fields made the cut at quarterback after a season that saw him play significant minutes in all but a handful of games. Isaiah Wilson and Cade Mays made the list on the offensive line and quite frankly, while he didn’t make the list, I could make a compelling case for Trey Hill as well. Is the future bright up front for the ‘Dawgs? Yes siirrrr!!!!
Jordan Davis was justifiably honored on the defensive line after a season that saw him go from the bench to becoming one of the more effective nose men in the league. Finally, Jake Camarda got the nod as the league’s top freshman punter after a solid season replacing Cam Nizialek.
Of note, Alabama and Texas A&M had four selections apiece to take the runner-up slot. The ‘Dawgs, Tide, and Aggies are also among the top four teams in recruiting for the 2019 class. In short, from a talent standpoint, it appears the Red and Black are leading a group of teams separating itself from the SEC pack. The future. It remains bright. Until later...
