Orange Bowl Open Thread: Oklahoma Looks To Prove They Belong Here

NCAA Football: College Football Playoff Semifinal-Orange Bowl-Alabama vs Oklahoma John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

In just a few moments the best quarterback in college football will lead his team into action against Tua Tagovailoa and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

It’s a showdown between quite possibly the two best offenses in college football which, obviously, means that we’re probably going to see a 7-3 game at the end of the first quarter. But it’s a safe bet that these two teams will put up some points. My money is on the Tide because they actually have what’s known in the business as a “defense.” Oklahoma on the other hand gave up 40 points, 25 first downs, and 524 yards of offense to....Kansas.

Much as we saw in the Cotton Bowl between Clemson and Notre Dame, there’s football, and then there’s big boy football. Alabama plays big boy football, and if the officials allow Alabama to play the time of MMA on grass game that they want to play the Tide will bludgeon the Sooners into submission. But if the Land Thieves can get to Tua the way Georgia did in the SEC title game and keep Alabama out of rhythm offensively, we may have a ball game. Until later . . .

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
