When you beat the #9 team in the country to clinch your second consecutive SEC East title it’s a safe bet that you’ve had some players step up. Such was the case this afternoon as the Georgia Bulldogs downed the Kentucky Wildcats. As we like to say, all ‘Dawgs are created equal, but some ‘Dawgs distinguish themselves, and they are the MVDs: Most Valuable ‘Dawgs.
Offense: D’Andre Swift. With 16 carries for 156 yards this one was a no-brainer. He also added a 16 yard reception through the air. Healthy D’Andre Swift is the most explosive player on the Bulldog offense, and it appears he’s getting healthy at the right time.
Defense: Monty Rice. Rice had a team-leading 8 tackles and a sack for a UGA defense that held Benny Snell in check and never seemed out of control. Rice isn’t Rowuan Smith, but with each week he’s looking more like Smith’s heir apparent.
Special teams: Mecole Hardman. I could have gone with any number of players for this spot. Rodrigo Blankenship was perfect, as usual. Jake Camarda only punted once, but it was a 55 yard beauty. However Hardman’s 65 yard punt return to set up Georgia’s first touchdown did a lot to put the ‘Dawgs in control early. Hardman also had a solid 24 yard kickoff return, but that punt return was a trendsetter.
Am I right? Am I wrong? Let me know in the comments, and...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
