First Quarter Open Thread: I’m More of a ‘Dawg Person Myself

NCAA Football: Florida at Georgia Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia faces a stiff challenge this afternoon in the form of a Kentucky team fielding the nation’s top scoring defense. The ‘‘Cats have been especially impressive after the half, having given up only 33 points in the second half. It’s a veteran unit that plays about the best assignment football in the SEC, but which is also dealing with some injuries, especially in the middle.

Senior linebacker Jordan Jones, the team’s fourth leading tackle, broke his hand in practice this week but will play with a cast. Junior linebacker Kash Daniel, the third leading tackler, played last week with a cast over his own surgically-repaired left hand.

This Kentucky defense is good, but it will be hard-pressed to keep up with a Georgia offense that rediscovered some of its big play potential last week against Florida. Look for the ‘Dawgs to take some chances against the Kentucky secondary, but ultimately to throw body blows to the middle of that Wildcat defense. Let’s do this.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
