The October decommitment of Louisiana tailback John Emery left Georgia once again in search of help in the backfield. And while the ‘Dawgs have been in touch with some of the most highly-rated tailbacks in the nation, one player to keep an eye on as early Signing Day approaches is actually a three star running back currently ranked outside the top 100 at his position.
Sebring (FL) senior DJ Williams committed to Appalachian State back in July. However he’s recently picked up offers from Auburn, Miami, Tennessee, Texas, and Georgia. The reason lies in his senior tape, highlights of which you can see below:
It’s entirely possible that Williams will run his way into a four star grade by Signing Day. Regardless of what the recruiting services think of him, the 5’11, 205 pound senior clearly has the combination of speed, power, and vision the UGA coaches look for in their backs.
The Bulldogs continue to pursue blue chippers like IMG Academy’s Noah Cain (who’ll visit this weekend for the UMass game) and Florida back Kenny McIntosh (who like Williams was in Athens for the Auburn game). But don’t be surprised if there’s a spot for Williams in Georgia’s class come Signing Day on December 19th.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
