Jim Chaney decided to keep it simple in the opening act against the Samford Bulldogs, and it was satisfyingly effective. Nick Chubb crossed the century mark for the first time this season only two minutes into the second quarter. D’Andre Swift showed enviable shakes and acceleration and Mecole Hardman caught it this time as the ‘Dawgs cruised to a 21-0 lead.
Then, well, things got a little messy. A penalty here. A turnover there. In the end the Classic City Canines sit staked to a 21-7 lead that could have been smaller but for some solid defense and the first blocked field goal for UGA since 2014.
Hopefully we’ll see a refocused Bulldog team in the second half. More first quarter, less second, please. Let’s finish this one off.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
