We here at Dawg Sports hope that you are yours are safe and sound from the effects of Hurricane Irma. Monday was quiet on the UGA campus, and classes are still cancelled Tuesday due to Irma. Our thoughts go out to all those who suffered losses.
Welcome to Tuesday, ‘Dawg fans. Since the SEC conference opener isn’t for another week, we’ll go ahead and revel a bit more in our victory at South Bend.
And all those tickets didn’t go to waste. Not only did our fans have a good time, but our recruits did too. Since we all like to read Jeff Sentell, he was kind enough to catch up with several big targets on our 2018 and 2019 recruiting boards, and they were certainly impressed with the way The Bulldog Faithful showed up and showed out.
Lo/Zo Carter was recently named SEC Defensive Player of the Week. His 7 tackles and 2 forced fumbles were integral to the highly regarded Georgia defensive performance Saturday night. The trifecta of the sack, forced fumble, recovered fumble is only about a touchdown away from David Pollack. The award could easily have gone to Smith, Bellamy, Reed, Baker, etc., but the sexy fumble recoveries put Lorenzo over the top.
There were a lot of worthwhile statistics from our trip to South Bend, but the one I want to key on is that the University of Georgia is 2-0 vs. the University of Notre Dame.
Some may have noticed that Coach Kirby Smart did not wear his erstwhile visor while at Notre Dame Saturday. In other Georgia hat news, a pair of Women’s Soccer stars lit up the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. No word on if the CCU coach also wanted some more dawgs. Just a couple of days prior, the Women’s Soccer team was held to a draw against... the Samford Bulldogs.
Okay, we’re looking forward now.
If we want to look forward even more, like look past Samford and look forward to Mississippi State, the game time has been announced as 7:00 pm ET, Saturday, September 23rd on ESPN. This looking forward thing might be one of the things I worry about.
No press conference, very little Kirby, very little in the way of player access. So that will have to do for today. But stick with us through the week for more Bulldog on Bulldog action (which usually costs you a bit more).
And as always...
GO ‘DAWGS!!!
