When Irish Eyes Are Crying

I know I haven't written anything in about a year, but last year's team didn't inspire me to write much of anything, so I didn't. In fact, I figured I wouldn't write anything again until they inspired me to do so. However, when I first heard the news that we were playing Notre Dame, I promised myself that if we beat them, I'd write a parody of "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." So we did; so I did. I don't know if/when I'll write anything else; that depends on the motivation and talent level of both the team and myself, I guess. For now, however, I'm going to enjoy this win, and I hope that you'll enjoy this parody.

Listen:

Sing along:

When Irish Eyes Are Crying

When Irish eyes are crying, sure it’s like a night in fall.

O’er the sound of Irish sobbing, you can hear our fans Dawgs call.

When Irish hearts are heavy, that means Dawgs fans’ hearts are light;

But when Irish eyes are crying, Chapel Bell will ring all night.

There’s a tear in your eye caused by Dawgs’ defense guys

who did live in your backfield all game.

With such power in their strides, they attack from all sides,

fearing none of your hist’ry and name.

When we reach the forth quarter, we’ll play Krypton’s song

while our phones twinkle bright as can be.

And we’ll cheer all the while and at other times smile,

and yell raucously for Bellamy.

When Irish eyes are crying, sure it’s like a night in fall.

O’er the sound of Irish sobbing, you can hear our fans Dawgs call.

When Irish hearts are heavy, that means Dawgs fans’ hearts are light;

But when Irish eyes are crying, Chapel Bell will ring all night.

Oh, your tears caused by Smart sate the hate in our hearts,

and they make even storm clouds less dark.

Amidst Redcoats’ sweet song playing all the game long

come your sobs mixed with Dawg fans’ loud barks.

Though the autumns in Athens are sweetest of all,

winning road games ‘gainst foes tastes great, too.

And while autumn is ours, we should cheer for our stars,

for our Bulldogs both old and new.

When Irish eyes are crying, sure it’s like a night in fall.

O’er the sound of Irish sobbing, you can hear our fans Dawgs call.

When Irish hearts are heavy, that means Dawgs fans’ hearts are light;

But when Irish eyes are crying, Chapel Bell will ring all night.
