Georgia’s slow developing 2018 recruiting class continued to pick up steam this evening with the commitment of Florida wide receiver Elijah Moore. Moore, a rising senior at Ft. Lauderdale football powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, picked the Red and Black over Ole Miss, and also counted offers from the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Miami.
Moore is rated the #38 wide receiver in the class of 2018, and the #35 player in the Sunshine State in the 247Sports composite rankings. There’s some divergence among evaluators about where to rank the 5’11, 170 pound standout, in part due to his lack of ideal receiver size and concerns that Moore doesn’t have breakaway speed.
What he does have are outstanding hands, good body control, and open field shakes that could make him a weapon in the slot. Moore is the first wide receiver commit for the Bulldogs in this class. With a quartet of blue chip freshman receivers in the 2017 class, and two of the top three receivers in the nation for 2019 already committed, UGA won’t be in the market for many in this class. But four star prospect Moore has the potential to crack the rotation and grow into a reliable contributor sooner rather than later.
