Thursday’s first round of the Greenbrier Classic featured an impromptu Exorcist remake, as an old golfer and a young golfer took centerstage.
Tour rookie Sebastian Munoz shot a blistering 61 to take the lead. Not to be outdone, 53 year old Davis Love, III fired a 63 to hang close in second.
Hudson Swafford is low ‘Dawg after round one, shooting a five under 65 to tie for 9th. Russell Henley stands tied for 25th at two under, while Harris English and Chris Kirk are tied among a gaggle of golfers (29 of them to be exact) at one under (43rd). In that group is fellow Bulldog Bubba Watson, whose journey to a -1 69 was more eventful than most.
Kevin Kisner brings up the rear so far as Red and Black golfers are concerned, following a +2 72. But even he is well within sight if the cut line. You can follow Friday’s action from scenic West Virginia on Golf Channel from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Hopefully we’ll be heading into the weekend with a boatload of Bulldog golfers in the hunt. Until later...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
