Super Bowl LI: How To Watch/Open Thread

NCAA Football: Florida at Georgia Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

It’s time for the biggest sporting event in American life for people who aren’t smart enough to be college football fans. It’s Super Bowl Sunday, baby!

The game between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons nominally kicks off at 6:30 p.m. eastern on FOX, though by the time noted Georgia fan Luke Bryan sings the national anthem and various rockets glare and air guitars crank up it will probably be a little later.

If you’re looking for how to root, I would remind you that the Patriots count among their number former ‘Dawgs David “Boss” Andrews (starting at center) and wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell, who’s snagged 32 passes for 401 yards and 4 touchdowns in his rookie campaign.

Atlanta has only former defensive tackle Chris Mayes, who is on injured reserve and won’t be participating tonight.

Usually I choose my Super Bowl team based on my affinity for the Georgia Bulldogs. But as a guy who grew up idolizing Dave Archer and Gerald Riggs and White Shoes Johnson, you can bet your Sam Adams drinkin’ butt that this is the one time in human history I’m rooting against Boss and Malcolm. Your mileage may vary.
