Saturday Bowl Preview and Television Schedule: Fiesta, Orange, Liberty, and TaxSlayer

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Kansas State Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports

With the exception of next Saturday’s FCS title tilt between North Dakota State and James Madison, this is the last college football Saturday of the 2017 season.

It’s been pretty fun, huh?

Today’s bowl slate includes a series of entertaining games, beginning with the only game featuring one of our SEC coevals. The TaxSlayer Bowl (Noon, ESPN) will pit Louisville against #23 Mississippi State.

Next up Iowa State takes on #20 Memphis in the Liberty Bowl. If you haven’t had a chance to watch the Iowa State Cyclones I recommend tuning in for this one. Matt Campbell’s team is both good and entertaining. How long the folks in Ames can hold onto him remains to be seen.

#11 Washington takes on #9 Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl (4:00, ESPN). I think it’s pretty obvious that the official Dawg Sports position here is that you should be rooting for James Franklin to lose in excruciating fashion.

Finally, the night’s marquee matchup takes place at 8:00 in the Orange Bowl, where #10 Miami will take on #6 Wisconsin (ESPN). This is one of the few bowl games this season that should feature two teams with intact coaching staffs who aren’t disappointed to be where they are. I think it will be a good one.

Enjoy your football Saturday, and . . .

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
