Around the SEC

NCAA Football: Kentucky at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

As you wake up from your post-Thanksgiving food coma, let’s rundown the news across the league before rivalry weekend.

Here is what’s happening around the SEC:

  • Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State 31-28 in the Egg Bowl in what is considered by many to be Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen’s final game at the school.
  • In the Egg Bowl, Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald suffered a gruesome ankle injury. Here’s wishing him a speedy recovery.
  • Texas A&M will reportedly fire coach Kevin Sumlin after the Aggies’ game against LSU. Rumor is they will target Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. Jimbo Fisher will subsequently decline said overtures.
  • Tennessee has dismissed wide receiver Jauan Jennings from the team. Maybe the new coaching staff will invite him back?
  • It appears Chip Kelly is deciding between the Florida job and the UCLA job.
  • Auburn running back Kamryn Pettway is out for the Iron Bowl this weekend. Oh, you haven’t heard anything about the Iron Bowl being this weekend and kind of a big one this year?
  • In college basketball, Missouri freshman phenom Michael Porter Jr. will opt for surgery and likely be out all year before being a lottery pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Until next time… GO DAWGS!!!
