Cocktail Thursday: Georgia Tech Edition

old fashioned

If your Georgia Bulldogs are traveling to historic Mark Richt Field looking for revenge without looking ahead you could probably use a drink. I can help you with that.

In the words of the great Lou Loomis, I’m going to put it right on the line here. Georgia has absolutely no business losing to this Georgia Tech team. The Jackets are 5-5 and coming off a 43-20 loss to Duke. The Blue Devils scored on their first seven possessions and rushed for 319 yards. There ain’t no Nick Chubbs or Sony Michels on that Duke roster.

But it won’t be that easy. It’s never that easy. Georgia has managed to lose two out of three to the Jackets. The common denominator: a Georgia team that turned the ball over and didn’t play until the final whistle.

If Kirby Smart’s team plays a complete game on Saturday this one shouldn’t be close. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. First snap. Last snap. Every snap. That’s how you beat little brother. Stay. In. The. Game.

If you’re looking for a drink to keep you in the game until the final whistle, have I got the cocktail for you: Bourbon-ade. It’s the refreshment of lemonade, with the sublime hint of bourbon. There’s also caffeine. That doesn’t hurt.

Start by brewing a half gallon of strong sweetened ice tea. Mix in a 12 ounce can of frozen lemonade concentrate, an extra 1⁄2 cup of sugar, 6 cups of water, and a 750 mL bottle of your favorite bourbon. Stir to combine and serve over ice. Enjoy. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
