By now you’ve probably eaten, drank, been merry and counted your blessings.
Now let’s watch the Magnolia State engulf itself in gridiron hatred. Ole Miss and Mississippi State rekindle their Egg Bowl rivalry at 7:30 eastern on ESPN.
The Rebels are suffering through the kind of season they’d rather forget. Matt Luke has skippered them to a 5-6 record, which actually isn’t that terrible given that Hugh Freeze resigned on season’s eve, quarterback Shea Patterson went down to injury, and an NCAA investigation has hovered over Oxford like a noxious cloud.
Dan Mullen’s team sits at 8-3 and is ranked #16 in the college football playoff rankings. Mullen remains a candidate for a couple of coaching openings and will likely crop up in the discussion if Gus Malzahn decamps to Arkansas.
Ole Miss can’t go to a bowl, but they can put a damper on the Bizarro Bulldogs’ season and avenge the whipping they took last year. So sit back, grab another piece of pie, and enjoy some SEC football.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
