As we prepare to right the ship, let’s catch you up on the news of the league.

Here is what’s happening around the SEC:

  • Juuuuuust in case you hadn’t heard, Tennessee finally let go of Butch Jones. I could dedicate an entire Around the SEC on the news following the firing and fallout, but here are the cliffnotes:
  1. Tennessee reporters started slamming Butch Jones after he got fired
  2. Butch Jones apparently called a recruit and told him to go elsewhere, sparking a firestorm about how he would sabotage Tennessee’s recruiting class
  3. The #Grumors started back up, but reportedly Jon Gruden has no interest in the job
  • Rumors are swirling that Florida is eyeing Chip Kelly to be their next football coach. Until an announcement is made, we’ll just keep obsessively checking AD Scott Stricklin’s Twitter, ain’t that right #CFBTwitter??
  • In basketball news, Vanderbilt landed 5-star point guard Darius Garland out of Brentwood. He is the highest ranked recruit in Vandy basketball history.
  • Ole Miss trolled former coach Tommy Tuberville with a “pine box” tweet after it was announced Tuberville would be calling the Rebels next game.
  • Texas A&M is prepared to pursue Jimbo Fisher to be their coach. Jimbo Fisher is prepared to say “no thanks” to being the next Texas A&M coach.

Until next time… GO DAWGS!!!
