We’re only a few days away from kickoff in Nashville. I wasn’t worried about Tennessee and I’m even less worried about Vanderbilt (since they manage to actually maintain their playing surface). Given the propensity of the Dawgs to drop these kinds of games in the last decade, perhaps I should be. But these Dawgs aren’t the Dawgs of the last decade. So it’s time to let the good times roll. These are your Thursday Morning Dawg Bites:
- To begin with this morning, let’s take a look at something a little bit different. Now, I’ve never been what one would call “keen” on Paul Finebaum’s particular brand of college football analysis/entertainment. But this is just an extremely informative and well-conducted interview with Georgia RB Nick Chubb. Additionally, it is becoming increasingly clear that Nick Chubb is going to make some NFL team’s PR department extremely happy.
- Next up, The Red & Black has Wednesday’s practice report. There isn’t much to be gleaned here, but I do like this bit:
Wide receivers coach James Coley was not happy with the work of some of his receivers. He was heard loudly criticizing his players after not catching passes thrown to them.
- Seth Emerson brings us a quick look at two unheralded members of the support staff that may be having an impact on the turnaround we’re seeing in Georgia’s offense and special teams.
- I really hope Big Game Bob Stoops was just passing through town and that he didn’t receive any compensation for speaking to the team. I know high quality motivational speaking is hard to come by, but come on. When asked to summarize Big Game Bob’s message to his team Kirby replied:
“The biggest thing, is that the wind blows higher at the top”
EPIC. The wind does, in fact, blow higher at the top... by the very nature of it being at the top. Attaboy, Bob.
- Here’s a snapshot of the motivation our S&C staff is helping to bring. I guess there’s “fake juice” and then there’s “bringing the juice”. I’m thirsty.
- Well, that sure is a splashy headline for what turns out to be a whole heck of a lot of nothing.
- Finally... I mean, I guess this is technically true, but it’s not a take I’ve seen anyone else eager to put forth.
That’s all for now, folks. Until later...
GOOOO DAWGS!!!
