It is once again time to recognize the Georgia Bulldogs who proved most valuable in Saturday’s contest which, in case you forgot, was was 42-7 victory over the Florida Gators. Lots of guys came up big in this one, but some ‘Dawgs stood head and shoulders above the rest, including....
Offense: Sony Michel. You average 23ish yards per carry, score 2 touchdowns, and become only the fifth tailback in UGA history to rush for 3000 in a career and you get a game ball from me. Sony’s touchdowns of 74 and 45 yards were a great reminder that #1 is a threat to score from anywhere on the field.
Defense: Everybody. The whole famn damily. Florida had twelve offensive possessions on Saturday. Six were three and outs. Eight of them were five plays or fewer. The defense also stopped two Florida expeditions inside the 20 for no points and pitched a shutout until the backups started sliding in with five minutes left. Just a solid overall effort.
Special teams: Cameron Nizialek. Rod Blankenship was 6 of 6 on extra points. But Nizialek’s 4 punts pinned the Gators at the 23.5 yard line on average. None was returned, meaning Niz has surrendered a total of 9 punt return yards on 30 punts through 8 games. That’s 1.13 punt return yards per game. I didn’t know that was even possible. We’ll be back with more news and analysis later. Until then...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
