If your Georgia Bulldogs don't have a game this weekend, and you have agonized over what to do with yourself as a result, you may need a drink. I can help you with that. And so can our community.
Well, here we are. Your Georgia Bulldogs made it to the week of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party undefeated for the first time in over a decade. i'm going to be honest: I didn't see it coming.
Oh sure, I said about a year ago that I had confidence that Kirby Smart was building a program that would be successful for the long-haul. I defended that proposition in the face of empirical evidence which could be read to support precisely the opposite conclusion.
But even I did not expect this. I expected there to be some bumps in the road. I expected there to be some inconsistency. A little over halfway through the season, that has not been the case. This football team has been as consistently good as they have been at any time since late 2012.
Frankly I expected 2018 to be the year things started to come together. I thought 2017 would still be about integrating some of the incoming talent necessary for Georgia to compete at an elite level, and that 2018 would see a veteran offense and a deep defense take the SEC East by force.
Admittedly there is still a lot of football to be played. But here's to pleasant surprises so far, and wishing for pleasant surprises yet to come. I am not offering a recipe for this week. Instead, I am asking you to share your suggestions on how to toast this one. Please leave your suggestions, and your plans for this UGA football free weekend in the comments. And...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
