Post-Game Wrap: Your “Overcoming Adversity and Rolling onto Victory” Late Thread.

NCAA Football: Missouri at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

In a game where Georgia was essentially down 3 of their starting defensive linemen before the kickoff (Trent Thompson, David Marshall and Daquan Hawkins-Muckle), you figured that there would be some issues defensively. Would we get a decent pass rush? (Spoiler: Not really). Would Mizzou exploit the run? (Not as much as I thought they would). Would they test us deep? (Oh, yeah). This game had me queasy for 1 and a half quarters. But Georgia amassed a ton of yardage (over 700 un-officially) and Jake Fromm - aside from a horrible first quarter pick when he locked onto Isaac Nauta and didn’t see a ‘backer coming across the ball’s flight path - had his best day passing as a ‘Dawg (18/26 for 326 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 int).

Georgia rushed for 326 yards. Deandre Swift led the way with 94 (should’ve been more had it not been for a total BS motion penalty on Brian Herrien).

Georgia is going to limp into the bye week with some injury issues. Terry Godwin got speared in the back on a damned dirty late hit in the 2nd quarter and was having an awesome game up to that point. I’m hoping it’s only a hip-pointer, but haven’t heard anything definite on the pay $ites on what actually happened.

Still, Georgia’s offense rolled and our kicking game (our punter didn’t actually punt until 14:20 in the 4th quarter) is still on-fleek.

Georgia gets to hopefully heal up and iron out some issues in the defensive backfield. They need this bye week like we all need this bye week. I’m sure they’ll put it to good use.

Consider this the open thread for the rest of the evening. As Always,

GO DAWGS!
