Georgia’s 2017 recruiting class is quickly becoming one of the most highly-rated to hit Athens in the past two decades. Today it got a little bit better still when Grayson safety Deangelo Gibbs picked the Bulldogs over Alabama during the Under Armour All-American Game.

The 6’2, 205 pound standout could actually take snaps at safety, corner, or receiver, which is likely why ESPN slots him as the #2 athlete in the country for 2017. 247Sports ranks him the nation’s #3 safety, which I think is where he plays in college. Gibbs has great range, phenomenal hands, and is more aggressive against the run than a lot of high school defensive backs.
Another impressive aspect of this is that it's another instate recruiting victory for Kirby Smart. Smart may not have completed proverbial fence around the Peach State, but he's only a couple of boards short. Georgia now has pledges from ten of the top fifteen players in the state according to 247Sports.
By the time National Signing Day rolls around, Georgia could easily have commitments from fifteen of the state’s top twenty players. Doing that year in and year out isn't sufficient alone to win national titles, but it is a great start. Until later...
