NCAA Football: North Carolina vs Georgia Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Newsy notes and other things pertaining to your favorite college football with team a random gif here ‘n there and maybe some snarky comments about rivals and such...

By now you have heard about the decision to start Jacob Eason vs. Nicholls State tomorrow (Noon, SEC Network). Jake Rowe of 247Sports is thinking what you are thinking: Might as well get the inevitable on track now.

The Charlotte Observer shares some thoughts as to what doomed North Carolina to defeat last Saturday night. I can’t argue with any of it, but I’m still baffled as to why Larry Fedora did not try to test a youthful Georgia defensive interior more with the run.

You’ll need to print a program for this weekend’s match-up as, according to Jason Butt of The Telegraph, a lot of new faces and numbers will be playing Between the Hedges for the Dawgs. Points will be scored, red shirts will be burned... I just want to see (surely given the number of opportunities) if any of our kickers can drill it through the back of the end zone.

Uh, here’s a GIF of Helen Mirren for no particular reason. I’d start her over Jennifer Lawrence any day of the week, but then again, I’m old school. Gotta go with experience. Is it me, or is the resemblance uncanny? Forgive the digression...

I’ll be settling in for the Battle of Bristol tomorrow evening which is arguable the most compelling game on a Saturday with a real dearth of quality match ups. In addition to lots of beer expected to be sold at the game, rumor has it that telescope kiosks will be set up outside Bristol Motor Speedway because the sight lines are going to be horrible. Next year, they’re gonna meet again and run a race at the same time. It’s a Fact!

This is well beyond, “Shit Tyrone, get it together!” territory. C’mon, Big Blue.

Just a thought on our QB situation: Jacob Eason will start and he may very well never look back until his playing days in Athens are over, but major props to Greyson Lambert who has been nothing but classy and has given his best effort each and every time he has taken the field.
