Anyone who was hoping for some clarity with the quarterback situation for the Georgia Bulldogs is going to be sorely disappointed.
Things were mixed up during practice yesterday. Greyson Lambert was seen with the first group on Monday and Tuesday, while Jacob Eason took the reins on Wednesday. I think it’s pretty reasonable to say that both will see time on Saturday, but it is worth noting that the last time Eason was spotted with the first team was the last week of the preseason.
Head coach Kirby Smart isn’t quite ready to name who will draw the start.
"When we feel comfortable about who’s going to go out there for the first play, then we’ll name it," Smart said. "But we’re not that comfortable about that right now. I don’t think it’s as pressing an issue right now because both of them have played now. So it’s not as in the forefront."
Sony Michel is still in a black non-contact jersey, as he has been since the beginning of the preseason. He did take light contact on Tuesday during drills, which is a step in the right direction.
Saturday’s matchup against Nicholls State will have a special visitor as well. Xavier Thomas, the No. 2 prospect in the 2018 class, will be in town for the game. The 6-foot-3, 249-pound defensive end out of Florence, South Carolina, named a top four of Clemson, South Carolina, Florida State and Ohio State in July. When I went to check the tweet, however, it has been deleted. So, hey, you never know - let’s just hope he has a fun, safe trip.
‘Til next time... Go Dawgs!
