By now you've already seen Georgia Tech travel halfway around the world to play in a half empty stadium despite having a perfectly good half empty stadium right there on campus. Now let’s watch some real football.
Hawaii kicks it off at noon against the Fightin’ Khakis of Michigan on ESPN. My sense is that the jet-lagged Warriors are probably not going to be much of a contest for a well rested Michigan team, and you can expect the Harbaugh hype machine to continue chugging along for at least another week.
ABC has the only early matchup of ranked teams as #3 Oklahoma looks to get a solid test from #15 Houston. The Cougar roster is stocked with players who probably wanted an offer from the Sooners and did not get one. I think they call that ‘"motivation.’ That being said, it remains to be seen whether Tom Herman’s squad is really up to repeatedly facing down the elites of college football. My guess is that Houston acquits itself well, but that Oklahoma is just too much for the Cougars in the end.
If it's SEC football you're looking for South Alabama travels to Mississippi State (SEC Network) and Missouri is on the road in Morgantown to face West Virginia (Fox Sports 1). West Virginia fans will burn their couches win or lose, and if experience is any guide, Missouri fans will be too polite to be outwardly horrified by it. God Bless America. And God Bless college football.
