It is our intention to celebrate Georgia Football Wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Victory Dance. This week the boys looked more like they were on a group blind date meeting one another for the first time than a team of 22 men who've been eating, sleeping & practicing football together for a while. Meanwhile, Nicholls State proved they were less a sweet frosted cupcake and more a meat & potatoes team that came to win. I'm still convinced we'll get where we need to be in fairly short order, even if the rest of the Bulldog Nation disagrees.
Coach Kirby Smart currently boasts a perfect 2-0 record, having carded his first win at home over the Nicholls State Colonels Between The Hedges. This week's dancing star was Isaiah MacKenzie, the Human Joystick. He was juking and jiving his way for 66 yards and a touchdown
It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week's edition of: Victory Dancing, Smart Style.
Coach Smart currently boasts a 2-0 record and a 1.00 winning percentage. At the identical juncture in their careers:
Vince Dooley's second game as head coach resulted in a win over perennial whipping boys at Vanderbilt giving Coach Dooley an opening record of 1-1 and 0.500.
Coach Mark Richt was also 1-1 (0.500) after losing to the Palmetto State Poultry the 2001 season.
I don't know how y'all feel, but personally, I'd rather have a 2-0 start than a 1-1 start, even if we did look more like Napoleon Dynamite in the Talent Show than Johnny and Baby in the finale of Dirty Dancing. After two games as the Head man at Georgia, Coach Kirby Smart is now ahead of the two winningest coaches in Georgia History .
Next week we're on to Columbia & Mizzou. Two weeks from today, I hope you'll join me live & in person at The Blind Pig on Washington in Athens to cheer on the boys, watch MaconDawg behead the sacrificial goat and maybe, just maybe, we'll get Just Some Dawg to do a little post-game Victory Dance.*
As always . . .
Go 'Dawgs !!!
**Trust me, a drunken JSD doing a Victory Dance is not to be missed !
