Philly tailback D’Andre Swift commits to Georgia in epic fashion

Student Sports

The Bulldogs added a second elite tailback to their 2017 signing class this afternoon when Philadelphia (St. Joseph’s) standout D’Andre Swift picked Georgia over Penn State, FSU, Alabama, Clemson, and a host of other suitors.

The nation’s #4 ranked back made his choice in style, with a Rocky-themed commitment video that also included street bikes, hot rods, and Meek Mill (okay, his music, but I'm just assuming Meek Mill wasn't in it because he didn't want to be upstaged).

Swift combines with Texas back Toneil Carter to give the ‘Dawgs a solid 1-2 punch at a position which requires oceans of depth and constant roster refreshing to succeed in the SEC. It's also hoped that Swift’s commitment is a harbinger of things to come for his cousin, four star receiver Mark Webb, who has shown interest both in UGA and playing with his cousin.

Even if Webb does go his own way, the commitment from the 5’9, 210 pound Swift is a great pickup at a position of need. In a rare down year for tailbacks in the Peach State, Kirby Smart and running backs coach Dell McGee have done solid work selling their plans from the Lone Star State all the way to the City of Brotherly Love. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!
