Georgia Bulldogs RB Nick Chubb Cleared to Play Against UNC

“We feel good about Nick, he feels great, and he's ready to go.”

Nick Chubb has been cleared to suit up for the Georgia Bulldogs against UNC in the season opener.

Coach Kirby Smart said as much in his weekly news conference, according to ESPN and others.

"He's been cleared,... It's a situation where he's scrimmaged and done live things. Had a lot of practices where he's carried it more than five or seven times. We feel good about Nick, he feels great, and he's ready to go. He won't technically be on a pitch count by any means."

Chubb has been rehabbing for 10 months since injuring his knee against Tennessee last October, and ‘Dawgs fans know he can be a game changer for the team regardless of who starts at quarterback.

Backup Sony Michel’s status is still unknown after he fractured his left forearm during the Fourth of July Weekend. Smart described his situation as “day to day.” Senior Brendan Douglas should also see a few carries in the Georgia Dome.
