More Georgia Bulldogs join preseason award watch lists

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

In the wake of Nick Chubb's inclusion on the Maxwell Award watch list and Dominick Sanders' on the Bednarik list a couple of other 'Dawgs have now earned some preseason accolades.

Center Brandon Kublanow is on the watch list for the Rimington Award, which goes to the nation's top center. Kublanow remains (along with Trent Thompson) one of two Bulldog recruits for whom I've ever predicted an NFL future on Signing Day. A master of social media education, "Kubes" is also among the SEC's leaders in getting totally jobbed by incompetent officials.

Lorenzo Carter picked up a nomination for the Nagurski Award, presented to the nation's top defensive player. Carter's 19 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in a platoon role in 2015 were a little bit of a disappointment following his breakout freshman campaign. But his profile looks set to rise in 2016.

And tackle/guard Greg Pyke has been added to the watch list for the Outland Trophy, presented to the best offensive or defensive lineman. Pyke has started 23 games over the past two seasons, earning Sports Illustrated Second Team All-American honors in 2015.
