David Pollack re-signs with ESPN, to expand college football role

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

ESPN announced some changes to their college football staffing today which included several established ESPN analysts moving around in the Worldwide Leader's coverage plans.

Most of it is fairly ho-hum, but one item of interest to Bulldog fans was the news that former UGA All-American David Pollack re-upped with the network and will have a somewhat enhanced presence for college football coverage. From the release announcing Pollack's new role:

ESPN has extended college football analyst David Pollack to a new multi-year deal. Pollack will continue to appear on College GameDay each week, have a more prominent role on College Football Live and contribute to additional studio shows this season. The three-time All-American at Georgia began working at ESPN in 2009 as studio analyst and joined College GameDay in 2011.

It's not clear exactly what Pollack's additional studio duties will include, but it's not surprising that he's becoming a more prominent part of the network's plans. While some Bulldog fans believe Pollack has gone out of his way to obscure any UGA allegiances, and maybe gone a little too far in the process, he's generally been a solid analyst. He not only knows the game but is also able to communicate on a level which Jesse Palmer, well, doesn't. Hopefully David will enjoy the security the multi-year deal provides, and maybe celebrate with a big meal. Please, David. Just eat something. Until later . . .

Go 'Dawgs!!!
