College football season isn't here yet, but it's getting there, and we're counting down the days. More specifically, every day between now and kickoff we're offering you one reason it's great to be a Georgia Bulldog. Why 98? Because 99 seemed excessive and 97 seemed like mailing it in.
Today's example? Marcus Howard and friends initiating the nervous twitch that Colt Brennan still has eight years later.
Some times you're the windshield. Sometimes you're the bug. On this night Hawaii went from being the windshield of the WAC to the remains of a bug run over by a Georgia team that felt it should have been playing for a national championship and finished the season ranked #2 in the country. It was also perhaps the last time that a Willie Martinez-coordinated defense didn't look like it was being directed by a partially lobotomized possum. But I digress.
On this night, it was indeed great to be a Georgia Bulldog. The 41-10 Sugar Bowl victory propelled the Bulldogs to a #1 preseason ranking in 2008. And although that season didn't turn out as 'Dawg fans had hoped, there's no denying that putting the Rainbow Warriors back in their proper position in the college football firmament was a lot of fun. Until tomorrow . . .
Go 'Dawgs!!!
