Georgia Tech jumps on the spring game excitement train

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

I don't always make fun of Georgia Tech football. But when I do, it's usually because of something like this.

Obviously Kirby Smart wasn't the first football coach to realize that having a full stadium at the spring scrimmage is good PR. But there's something particularly Techian about trying to fill your 55,000 seat stadium a week after your instate rival pushed the 100,000 mark.

Say what you will about Mark Richt's ability to beat the Alabamas of the world. But you can't deny that he beat Tech not like it was his job but like it was his sole passion on Earth. Let's hope that Kirby Smart picks up where he left off, and that Paul Johnson is as accommodating to the new guy as he has been to Richt.

Go 'Dawgs!!!
