The first spring game of the Kirby Smart era kicks off in only four short hours, and there's plenty of anticipation surrounding the event. How will the quarterbacks perform? Will Greyson Lambert continue a strong spring? Will Jacob Eason get fans out of their seats?
The tailback situation will also be interesting. Nick Chubb and Brendan Douglas are both limited by imjury, and we already have a great idea what Sony Michel can do. But today may be the first real chance to see what Tae Crowder can do with the ball in his hands, and also to get a first look at Shaquery Wilson's move to tailback.
The receiving corps, including the tight ends will also be a subject of scrutiny with newcomers like Isaac Nauta and Riley Ridley getting their first public snaps in Sanford Stadium. Up front, while some may not be paying attention to it, I'll be interested to see how some of the young offensive linemen like Kendall Baker and Lamont Gaillard are looking.
Defensively injuries may prevent several players up front with things to prove from participating. While the Bulldog defense won't be showing a whole lot on this day, and may not look schematically a whole lot different from 2015, there are position battles ongoing in the secondary. There's also the competition to replace snaps played last season by the likes of the departing Leonard Floyd and Jordan Jenkins.
Kickoff is at 4:00 eastern, with the game airing live on ESPNU. This will be the place for all of your observations on the action, and also the spot for post-scrimmage stats and the like. Until later . . .
