Only a day after decommitting from Alabama, Lassiter kicker Mitchell Wasson announced that he'll instead be attending the University of Georgia this fall. Wasson joins the Bulldogs as a preferred walk-on.
The Red and Black find themselves with no kickers on scholarship following the graduation of four-year starter Marshall Morgan. That doesn't, however, mean that Wasson is the only option at kicker for the 'Dawgs.
In fact two kickers are already on the roster. Sprayberry alum and former Army All-American Rodrigo Blankenship redshirted in 2015. Also William Ham officially rejoined the program in January after a season away from the team.
With no experienced kicker on the roster fans can expect an intense competition this spring between Blankenship and Ham, with Wasson joining the fray this fall. Ultimately the Bulldogs just need to find one guy they can count on to make kicks consistently, and having multiple young men compete for the job seems like a great way to find that guy. Until later...
Go 'Dawgs!!!
