The Georgia basketball desperation tour makes a stop this afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium for a noon date with Vanderbilt on ESPN2.
To be fair the Hoop Hounds' tournament hopes have been tenuous since a couple of bad losses to Texas A&M and Kentucky. But this week's frustrating come-from-ahead loss to the hated Florida Gators was almost a nail in the coffin. While I'm no professional bracketoligist, I believe the 'Dawgs now need to win out against the Commodores, Auburn, South Carolina, and Alabama. A run in the SEC Tournament would also improve the Hoop Hounds' argument to go dancing. But with a #72 ranking in the RPI, the Red and Blck are decidedly on the outside looking in.
That being said, a victory in the weirdly-configured, borderline illegal, reluctantly-renovated, Jerry-rigged excuse for a basketball venue in Nashville would shore up Georgia's NIT standing. And be a little bit of fun, too. Let's tip it off!
