Terrell County’s Tray Bishop Decommits From Auburn. Georgia In The Mix?

NCAA Football: UL Monroe at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Rusty Mansell of Dawgs247 is reporting that Terrell County quarterback/defensive back Tray Bishop has officially decommitted from Auburn. Coincidentally, Bishop recently made a visit to Athens.

Bishop, rated the #4 athlete in the country and the #16 player in the state of Georgia for 2017, tells 247 that his two potential destinations are now Georgia and Florida, both of which are recruiting his solely at defensive back. With today’s news that Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins is headed to Temple to take that school’s head coaching job, things may not be set up for the Gators to make a late push.

The 6’3, 190 pound U.S. Army All-American has limited experience in the defensive backfield, but he’s an electric athlete with prototype safety size.

Adding Bishop to the 2017 UGA recruiting class would be a solid win. Pulling top prospects away from Auburn in southwest Georgia is always a plus. And while current commit Richard LeCounte is perhaps the top safety prospect in the country, Georgia needs at least one more in this class. Grayson standout Deangelo Gibbs remains a strong possibility to join the group as well, but Bishop’s athleticism is the kind you just can’t pass up. Keep an eye on this one as we get closer to Signing Day. Until later . . .

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
