(Not Really) Gameday Morning Dawg Bites

In which we attempt to stay dry and shake things up by switching from Maker’s to Four Roses Single Barrel, from R.E.M. to The B-52’s, and from playing a decent SEC team to a pretty crummy one (on a Sunday, no less)...

Well, you won’t be anxiously awaiting Georgia’s game today. While that may just drag the agony out that much longer, it means you can kick back, relax, and enjoy college football with a mind free of offensive line-related concerns. Don’t worry, you’ll still get your chance to freak out about the Dawgs and the Gamecocks... you just get a 19 hour reprieve.

In the meantime, we’ve got booze, tunes, and articles from across the Internet (and eventually some football) to keep us occupied. Enjoy your Saturday morning and, as usual, feel free to use this as your open comment thread for any early morning shenanigans and tomfoolery.

Now on to the music!

And the news!

Wilson Alexander of the Red & Black has a fun piece about the relationship between Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp with a bunch of great anecdotes of the many times their paths have crossed prior to Sunday’s (?) game. I still don’t care for Coach Larry, but it’s an enjoyable read.

Mark Weiszer of the ABH/Online Athens brings us Alabama WR Calvin Ridley’s assessment of his brother Riley’s potential. In case you’ve managed to scrub last week’s game from your memory, Riley Ridley caught a miracle pass from Jacob Eason that, in a perfect world, should have gone down as one of the great plays in Georgia history.

Murray Poole of Bulldawg Illustrated outlines Greg McGarity’s feelings on moving Saturday’s Georgia-South Carolina game to Sunday. While its great that the football team won’t be displacing any evacuees from hotel rooms in the area, the 100+ hotel rooms that would have been occupied by the team is a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands that will be unavailable because fans will be using them.

The AP has announced that it’s College Football Top 25 won’t be released until Monday due to the postponement of the Georgia-South Carolina game. I suppose there are people who care about such things (I guess I do insomuch as it delays my ability to write next week’s TV schedule), but presumably those people know that neither of these teams will be cracking the Top 25 this week anyway.

AL.com has some discussion of the options the SEC may choose to pursue in order to play the recently postponed Florida-LSU game. I’m going to go on record and say that if Option #3 is anything short of laughed off the table by Greg McGarity, I’ll be the guy being escorted off the premises at Butts-Mehre. WE. DO. NOT. ACCOMMODATE. GATORS.

Finally, the football team isn’t the only set of Bulldogs going up against the Gamecocks on Sunday. Your 6-time National Champion Georgia Equestrian Team will systematically dismantle South Carolina beginning at 10 am. The #2 Dawgs defeated the #8 Gamecocks in both meets last year. Time for some Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat, y’all!

That’s it for now. Enjoy your Saturday and try not to get in too much trouble.

Until next time...

GOOOO DAWGS!!!
