Georgia looks for signature road win at Baylor

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Red and Black step out of conference this evening for a contest against #17 ranked Baylor in Waco (6:00 p.m., ESPN2). When last we saw the Bulldogs (11-7, 4-4 SEC), they were being called for a foul on every single defensive trip down the floor against LSU, but still very nearly pulled out the win in Baton Rouge before falling 89-85. I've never seen a team shoot 55 free throws in a game before, and frankly I hope I never do again. The sad fact is that if the Bayou Bengals had shot a merely outrageous 45 times from the charity stripe rather than their actual, ludicrous total there's a reasonable chance that Georgia would have pulled that one out for a nice resume building road win. But alas, it was not to be.

Tonight offers the Bulldogs a good chance to get that elusive signature win. Baylor's coming off a close loss to #1 Oklahoma and a win over Oklahoma State, and if Georgia can get Yante Maten back on track (he went for only 5 points against LSU) I think the 'Dawgs have a shot in this one. One concern? The Bears are a tough out at home, going 13-1 so far this season at the Ferrell Center. Let's go 'Dawgs!!!!
