We're still a little ways from Tuesday night MACtion, so tonight's Thursday night matchup between Memphis and Cincinnati is the official kickoff to your college football weekend. That spellbinding gridiron contest can be found on ESPN beginning at 7:30.

8:30 brings out the professionals, as Washington plays at the New York Giants on CBS. If you're like me your NFL allegiances are solely a derivative of your collegiate loyalties. If that's the case, you're going to need to pull for the guys from the nation's capitol, but only barely. None of the G-men matriculated in Athens. And only one Redskin wore the red and black, 10 year veteran defensive lineman Kedric Golston.

So sit back, relax, give me your best Dan Snyder insult* and enjoy some football on the first Thursday night of fall. Until later . . .

Go 'Dawgs!!!
