Could Georgia Pick Up A Late 2015 OL Commit?

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Reports this morning have Georgia picking up an additional offensive lineman for 2015 from a pretty unlikely source. Pete Sampson of Irish Illustrated is reporting that former Ohio State commitment Mirko Jurkovic, Jr. will enroll in Athensinstead of heading to Columbus. Jurkovic, a 3 star prospect out of IMG Academy, had offers not only from the Buckeyes but also Nebraska, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Jurkovic, the son of a former Notre Dame player and nephew of a longtime NFL lineman, ran into some issues getting admitted at Ohio State, however. As SB Nation’s Land-Grant Holy Land points out many thought that Jurkovic would end up at his dad’s alma mater in South Bend. To say that Georgia was a bit of a surprise destination would be pretty fair given that the ‘Dawgs didn’t seriously pursue the 6’5, 275 pounder prior to Signing Day. Along with Lamont Gaillard’s offseason move to offense and Josh Cardiello’s departure, Jurkovic’s arrival would bring Georgia up to 14 scholarship offensive linemen, right around the number you’d like to have on the roster. While he might not be in line to play significant minutes in a veteran group in 2015, this commitment does help some with class distribution looking forward. Until later . . . .

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
