Former Buford and current IMG Academy tight and Isaac Nauta is considered by many the top player in his position for the class of 2016. Bulldog fans were obviously disappointed several months ago when Nauta appeared to end his recruitment early by pledging to the Florida State Seminoles. However, it appears that a ray of hope is now shining through as Nauta has decommitted from the Seminoles following two recent visits to Athens, including one for the recent Dawg Night prospect camp.
Incidentally, Nauta's father had been expected to make a job transfer to Florida. However, the family is instead residing back in the Atlanta area now, and Nauta has cited Georgia's proximity to home as a point in the Bulldogs' favor. It probably does not hurt that blue-chip quarterback commit Jacob Eason has made him a priority for the Red and Black's 2016 class, along with recent commit Charlie Woerner and Archer receiver Kyle Davis.
As with the decommitment several months ago of Savannah star Demetris Robertson from Alabama, Bulldog fans should not deem Nauta's commitment to Georgia is a fait accompli. There is still a long way to go until Signing Day in February. However, with Nauta saying that Georgia was in his top four all along and really in the "top two" 'Dawg fans should probably have a fairly good feeling about this one. Mark Richt seems to have as good a shot as anyone and a better shot than most to land this five star recruit. Until later...
