Big Time Bulldog OL Commit E.J. Price Reopening Recruitment

"Decommitted? You gotta be kidding me."

On a day when Georgia already lost promising offensive lineman Devondre Seymour, the news went from bad to worse this evening when five star offensive tackle E.J. Price of Archer announced via Twitter that he is reopening his recruitment.

Price had considered Michigan and Alabama among others before making a surprise commitment to the Bulldogs. While the commitment itself was unexpected this decommitment is perhaps more so as Price has been an active recruiter for the Red and Black and had been in Athens as recently as last week for Coach Richt's 7-on-7 tournament. There he hung out with fellow Bulldog pledge Ben Cleveland and seemed by all accounts to be having a good time. Price is known to be a bit of a free spirit, and if you'd told me he might take a visit or four leading up to Signing Day I wouldn't have doubted it. But there wasn't a lot of warning here.

I wouldn't count the 'Dawgs out just yet for Price's services. He is still very close with several Bulldog commits, and his new high school teammates Kyle Davis and Jamyest Williams remain high priorities for the staff (and interested in coming to Athens). There's a lot yet pulling him toward the Classic City. But it sounds like someone may have gotten in his ear just a little bit and he may take some convincing to get back in the fold. If Price doesn't rejoin the 2016 class it would be a pretty significant blow, as he and Cleveland are head and shoulders above other available instate offensive linemen in this class. This one, in short, would sting. Until later...

Go 'Dawgs!!!
