Georgia set to tap Pitt's Chaney for OC job?

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

No official word yet, but multiple outlets are reporting this morning that Kirby Smart has tapped Pitt offensive coordinator Jim Chaney to run the Bulldog offense. Chaney previously worked at Arkansas, where his run-heavy style gave rise to twin 1000 yard rushers in 2014. He also worked at Tennessee and perhaps most famously as Purdue's offensive coordinator/QB coach during the Drew Brees era. In short, he had the name credibility to convince recruits that he knows what he's doing. He also has a track record of making his system work with the talents of his players, and for effective playcalling. Finally, he turned Tyler Bray into a 3600 yard passer at Tennessee. I like his odds with Jacob Eason.

We'll have more in this story as it develops.
