Georgia Overview

Georgia went to Atlanta and started a new winning streak over Georgia Tech, defeating the Yellow Jackets 13-7.

However, the bigger news came this morning when it was announced that Mark Richt would not be returning as head coach in 2016.  For the majority of my time as a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Mark Richt has been the man in charge.  I so wish the Dawgs could have won a title with Richt at the helm, particularly in 2012.

I have many great memories between the hedges thanks in large part to Coach Richt, and for that, I’m thankful.  It will be very strange seeing a new face on the sidelines in 2016.

Movers

Fell Out: #20 Washington State, #22 UCLA, #23 Mississippi State, #24 Toledo

Newcomers: #21 Utah, #23 LSU, #24 USC, #25 Wisconsin

Overrated

#8 North Carolina.  The Tar Heels have had an incredible run leading up to the ACC Championship Game.  However, that run will end at the hands of the Clemson Tigers.  Hold your heads high, Tar Heels, but you are not the eighth best team in the nation.

Underrated

#10 Florida State.  How did this team lose to Georgia Tech?  Besides that strange loss, the only other blemish on the Noles’ season is a loss to the number one team in the country.  The Seminoles will once again be in a Big Six bowl game and are playing great football to close the season.

This Week’s Top 25 Matchups

#20 Temple vs. #17 Houston

#18 Florida vs. #2 Alabama

#7 Stanford vs. #24 USC

#5 Michigan State vs. #4 Iowa

#8 North Carolina vs. #1 Clemson

Upset Alert

Last week I incorrectly picked the Egg Bowl.  I’ll try to do better this week.

My upset pick this week is Iowa over Michigan State in the Big 10 Championship Game.  I don’t really have a good reason for this pick, but it just feels right.  Welcome to the College Football Playoff, Hawkeyes.
