The Mark Richt Victory Watch: Episode 143, Comatose Man Edition

“In the land of the dead, the Comatose Man is King” – Mayor Emeritus

It is my firm belief that no one says it better than our Dear Mayor Emeritus when it comes to Georgia beating Auburn and taking the lead in the series.  Therefore, here are some of my favorite quotes from the Mayor himself today.

"So we beat our oldest rival, 20-13, by playing stout defense, being solid in the kicking game, and winning the turnover battle?  Well, Hell, that only worked for just about every one of the best years in Georgia football history, so I'll take it! Auburna delenda est!"

"I don't always order beer, but, when I do...

I give the beer to someone else and order a Jack and Coke.  If we happen to have beaten Auburn that day, or if Michael Adams happens to have announced his retirement that day, I tell my server to hold the Coke."

I know, I understand, I get it, I realize your criticisms are legitimate, I recognize you make a valid point, but we just beat Auburn for the eighth time in the last ten years, so, frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. ‪#‎GoDawgs ‪#‎AuburnaDelendaEst"

"I will never again criticize Isaiah McKenzie for any decision he makes on a punt return. I mean it. I forgave Bacarri Rambo for a lot after he gave himself a concussion on a game-saving play against Auburn. If you're a Georgia player who is responsible for the Bulldogs winning a game against the Plainsmen, you get a free pass from me for everything forevermore.

There ain't never been anything wrong with being a Georgia Bulldog that beating the Auburn Tigers couldn't fix, and coming home from the (allegedly) Loveliest Village with a win by a score of something along the lines of 20-13 has been a good sign for a many a Georgia team.

I'm not saying everything hereafter will be perfect and there is no room for criticism; it won't be, and there clearly is. Right here, right now, though, all is right with the world.

Auburna delenda est! Go 'Dawgs."

You're a Georgia fan.  If you only have room in your heart for hatred of one team, man, did you make a poor choice of collegiate allegiance! To be a good Georgia fan, you’ve got to have absolute hatred for at least three teams, at an absolute minimum. We’re not Georgia Tech, for crying out loud.

Yes dear reader, the University of Georgia Bulldogs were victorious today over one of our most hated rivals.  In doing so, we have taken the all-time series lead over the Auburn University Tigers for the first time since 1986.

It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to once again bring to you, the Mark Richt Victory Watch.

Coach Richt currently boasts a 143-51 record and a .7371 winning percentage.  At the identical juncture in their careers:

Coach Wally Butts was 117-68-9 (.6031) after a loss to the Yellow Jackets.

Vince Dooley and the 1981 Bulldogs featuring Herschel Walker had just won their second game of the season beating some team from California Between The Hedges and bringing Coach Dooley to an all-time record of 132-56-6 (.6804).

Mark Richt remains statistically head and shoulders above his historical coevals at the same point in their respective careers and the one man for whom I would leave my new husband, Mr. Podunkdawg, should I be presented with such an opportunity.

As always . . .

Go 'Dawgs !!!
