Georgia looks to avoid an 0-2 start in the SEC when they travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU Saturday night. The Bulldogs dropped a hard fought battle to Arkansas in the conference opener on Tuesday. That loss snapped a six-game winning streak by the Bulldogs and the team will be looking to bounce back on the road.
Georgia played outstanding early on against the Razorbacks before Arkansas' pressure defense wore them down in the second half. The Bulldogs will face another stiff challenge on Saturday against an LSU team that is undefeated at home and looking to bounce back from a loss in their conference opener.
The Tigers dropped a 74-67 decision at Missouri on Thursday in overtime. Foul trouble hampered LSU's talented post tandem of Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey. The duo combined to score just 18 points which is well below their season average but they did pull down 24 rebounds with Mickey accounting for 17 himself.
Georgia's frontcourt will be tested for the full 40 minutes but if the Bulldogs are going to have a chance they are going to have to get better guard play from Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines. Mann and Gaines combined for 18 points on 4-15 shooting with six turnovers against Arkansas. Mann in particular has been wildly inconsistent this season. The Bulldogs need him to get back to playing at a high level if they hope to successfully navigate an improved SEC this season.
