Josh Sweat is rated the number one prospect in America, and with good reason. He put up freakish numbers at the Opening in Oregon last month and his high school film confirms that he's a man among boys.
Sweat tallied 22 sacks as a junior, and isn't done with his physical development yet. He's got offers from essentially all of the major powers in college football, and all of them want to get him on campus on the off chance that they can impress him enough to come back next fall.
And he's announced that he'll be taking an official visit to UGA for the Vanderbilt game on October 4th. Sweat's other visits will be to Ohio State, Virginia Tech, FSU, and Oregon.
National recruiting analysts seem to think that Sweat is either going to stay with the instate Hokies or head to FSU. I'm not so sure. Georgia can sell the lure of playing in the SEC, which is still a big deal, even with the national title residing in Tallahassee. It doesn't hurt that the championship trophy got there in no small part thanks to the efforts of the guy recruiting Sweat to come to Athens. If the Bulldog defense makes real strides under Jeremy Pruitt in year one and the 'Dawgs are in the hunt for the SEC title game and/or a playoff appearance, I like their chances to be in it to the end for Sweat.
