It was doubtful that Justin Scott-Wesley was going to be recovered enough from last season's ACL injury but today's comments from Mark Richt cast some doubt as to when he might actually be able to suit up.
"We're not exactly sure when he'll be able to play a game of football for us. But we think it'll be this season," Richt said.
Even if Scott-Wesley had been healthy enough he would have been facing a one-game suspension for a marijuana arrest last season. Obviously there is no timetable for his return yet but Richt is apparently putting it out there that it could be several weeks into the season. Scott-Wesley emerged as a deep threat for the Bulldogs last season piling up 311 yards on 16 catches for a 19.4 average.
Georgia still has a number of other scholarship options at receiver but this combined with the news of Malcolm Mitchell's latest injury means the Bulldogs will begin the season with two of their most talented options on the sidelines.
