Brandon Morris dismissed from Georgia men's hoops

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

After being arrested over the weekend for felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Mark Fox took quick and decisive action with his junior SF on the first day back to work.

Brandon Morris is no longer a member of the UGA men's basketball team.

Morris was expected to be the starting SF this season for a team with hopes of making the NCAA Tournament.  There is a small possibility Fox could find a late enrollee to fill the spot, but considering he's had an opening since Tim Dixon departed and not filled it, we can assume these two spots will join the space opened when Marcus Thornton and Nemi Djurisic graduate to allow for at least 4 players in the 2015 recruiting class which already has Athens area G Will "Turtle" Jackson in tow.

The roster as it looks for now for the upcoming season has junior Gs Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines starting alongside F/C Thornton.  Sophomore Kenny Paul Geno is the only other natural SF on the roster, but we'll have to wait and see if he replaces Morris in the starting 5.  Fox may also decide to go small including sophomore G Juwan Parker or J.J. Frazier instead, or big with freshman Yante Maten, junior Cameron Forte, or Djurisic joining Thornton in the front court.  Redshirt sophomore Houston Kessler or redshirt freshman Dusan Langura are also options for Morris' vacated minutes.
